City Time Zones Modification Guidelines

• If you want to add a city please check if it already exists.
• Do NOT automatically approve any changes. About 10 irresponsible approvals are enough for erroneous entry to propagate into the live database. Please CHECK PENDING REQUESTS FOR ACCURACY and common sense.
• Use Google Earth or another reliable source of information to check city coordinates. Feel free to modify numbers if you see a discrepancy. This happens a lot!
• CHECK TIME ZONES! They are different even with the same GMT offset. One zone may have daylight saving while another may not, or it may be applied at different times. Google for "time in <city>" to find correct time zone information.
• If you are not sure select "Do not know" to proceed with database download.
• If you must have state or province mentioned in USA or Canadian city use the standard 2-letter abbreviation in city name, like Oklahoma City, OK.

• Please use English, if possible, to communicate your modifications.
• Do not play with the site. Do not enter erroneous information to test anything. The site and the database are live. Thousands of people depend on this site data accuracy.
• Do NOT rename existing cities, especially capitals, to a favorite town you currently live in. Do NOT rename Mumbai to Hyderabad. Do NOT rename Hyderabad to Vishakhapatnam. Use the Add City function instead. If you can't find it please let us know what we can do to make it easier to find.
